Commercial solar systems Perth: 30kW to 200kW
For WA businesses, farms, schools and not-for-profits.
Commercial solar from a local Perth team
Our sister business, PSW Energy, holds ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 certification (Bureau Veritas). If your business uses most of its power in daylight hours, solar on your own roof cuts what you buy from the grid. We quote on brand-name, CEC-approved products and handle the network approval for you.
If you need a technical site assessment, we’ll send an SAA qualified PSW technician.

Popular commercial solar options
Your ideal commercial solar system size depends on how much energy you consume during the day. If your business operates during daylight hours, commercial solar can help reduce energy costs.

150kW
commercial solar-
Around 1,036 STCs in Zone 3 with the fixed 5-year deeming period.
200kW
commercial solar, our largest size-
Around 1,382 STCs in Zone 3 with the fixed 5-year deeming period.
Certificate counts follow the Clean Energy Regulator method: capacity x zone rating (Zone 3: 1.382) x deeming years, rounded down. Systems up to 100kW are small-scale, so their deeming period drops each year (5 years in 2026, 4 in 2027). Systems over 100kW are mid-scale, with a fixed 5 years. Zone 3 covers most of Perth and Bunbury. Your count depends on your postcode, final system size and install date. Mid-scale applications open mid to late November 2026.

Call (08) 6171 4111, Mon–Fri, 9am–4pm AWST, or send us a recent power bill.
We look at your daytime use, roof and switchboard, then send a quote for supply and installation.
We lodge the network application. For systems over 30kVA, Western Power needs an enquiry, an application with network studies, and Approval to Operate before the system can run.
We install on weekdays and commission the system once approval comes through.

Commercial solar FAQs
Do you install systems above 200kW?
No. STCs now apply up to 1MW, but our commercial range is 30kW to 200kW. Above 200kVA, Western Power uses a separate, larger connection process.
How many STCs will a commercial system create in Perth?
The federal Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme pays in certificates, not a set dollar amount. From 1 October 2026, systems over 100kW and up to 1MW can create STCs as “mid-scale solar”, with a fixed 5-year deeming period. We install up to 200kW. Systems up to 100kW stay small-scale, with a deeming period that drops each year. In Zone 3 (most of Perth and Bunbury), a 30kW system installed in 2026 creates around 207 STCs, a 100kW system around 691, and a 200kW system around 1,382. Certificate prices move with the market, so your quote shows the count and the discount. Mid-scale systems choose STCs or REGO certificates for the deeming period, not both.

Do I need Western Power approval for commercial solar?
Yes. Inverter systems over 30kVA and up to 200kVA need an enquiry, an application with network studies, and Approval to Operate. Fees are $250 plus GST for the enquiry and $5,000 plus GST for the application.
How long does a commercial installation take?
Typically 4 to 12 weeks, depending on the nature of the job. Larger systems can take longer, because Western Power’s process for systems over 30kVA includes an enquiry, an application with network studies, and Approval to Operate. We’ll give you a timeframe for your job when we quote it.
Can my business get the Synergy DEBS buyback?
Usually not. DEBS is open to households, schools and other educational institutions, and not-for-profits, with a system of 500W to 5kW. A 30kW to 200kW business system is sized to use its own power during the day. For inverters over 30kVA, exports need an off-take agreement: Western Power’s default export limit is 30% of total inverter capacity with one, and 5% without.

Does the Cheaper Home Batteries Program cover businesses?
Yes, small businesses as well as households. You can claim one battery per meter (NMI) or commercial sub-meter, with certificates on the first 50kWh of usable capacity.
Can I claim commercial solar under the instant asset write-off?
The $20,000 instant asset write-off covers assets costing less than $20,000, for small businesses with turnover under $10 million. Assets costing more can go into the small business pool. Ask your accountant how it applies to you.
Do you install commercial solar in Horizon Power towns?
No. Our commercial work is on Western Power’s network. We don’t take commercial jobs in Horizon Power areas.
Are there alternative size commercial solar packages?
Yes, within 30kW to 200kW. Every site is different, so we size each system to your daytime use, roof area and network limits. Call (08) 6171 4111, Mon–Fri, 9am–4pm AWST, to talk it through.
Can I customise a solar package with different products?
Yes. Selected are products we feel offer the best value for business minded customers. Reputable brands with a bankable warranty. If there is an alternative solar panel or inverter preference, mention it and if it’s available within our range, we’ll quote it.
How will commercial solar benefit my business beyond savings?
Solar gives your business its own daytime power on site, so you buy less from the grid while the sun’s up. Add a battery and some of that energy carries into the evening.
