Temp COEF, short for Temperature Coefficient, is the percentage at which the performance of a solar panel reduces beyond the Standard Test Condition (STC) temperature point (e.g. 25oC).
As cell temperature increases, the power output by the solar panel decreases by a nominated percentage.
Relevance to Western Australia: A lower Temp COEF value assists in a calculable improved energy yield (kWh), especially in peak summer.
It’s easy to be confused when researching solar. Most solar panels in 2025 are comprised of a 3.2mm glass composite (glass-laminate or dual-glass), the weight of a solar panel more often than not represents the efficiency of the technology inside.
